Packing for Kids

Packing for children--one of the most dreaded parental tasks, especially for those who aim to travel light. I have three small girls: 5, 3 and 7 months. One disappointing reality I've found--the smaller the child, the more you pack.

I used these packing cubes for the girls on the recent trip out east and they worked like a charm. Each girl's clothes fit neatly into one cube. When we arrived at the hotel, I opened my suitcase, placed each cube into a separate dresser drawer, unzipped it and voilà. I felt instantly organized and settled in.

I've tried packing 'free-style' where clothes are neatly folded and separated for each child within the piles, but it becomes an instant disaster when you need to find an outfit in haste. I've tried ziploc bags where each outfit is packed into a bag. It's wasteful and once you use the clothing, it never gets put back into the bag.

We have another trip coming up in a few weeks and I'm betting on the packing cubes to save me some time and hassle. I’ll keep you updated.
